The introduction of state-of-the-art equipment from the EU has advanced the mechanization of such work as cleaning, de-hairing and dressing. This has not only helped improve the productivity and reduce the cost, but also led to a better hygiene and the work environment. In addition, animal welfare is duly considered when automating driving live pigs and slaughtering with carbon dioxide. Our new facility is environmentally friendly as we are now able to reduce water consumption by 40 %; as a result, the 1,000 liters of water previously required per pig was reduced to 600 liters.
